Why This Book

Why This Book?

January, 2020

This is a journey but it’s now time to amp it up a bit. Sometimes I don’t know if I am procrastinating or God is trying to keep me on His timetable. Its easy to make excuses, but it is what it is. Somehow, I know my journey is as important to some readers as the resulting finalised book will be to others. In the end God is looking for intimate relationship with you and me more than good figures on the scales and tape measure, more than great abs and clean arteries. So, smell the flowers on the walk, admire Gods creation in the scenery and talk to him along the way. Be nice to your family and friends, show real love when you have the opportunity.

Following my recent experiences with my open heart surgery and becoming a WFPBNO type vegetarian and the great changes I have a passion to help people with getting healthier. I see people struggling, I see the cries for help from people on Facebook who can’t be consistent. I remember in the year before my changes how I just kept putting on weight no matter how hard I exercised and tried to control my eating. I had just resigned myself to it.

Then, after several promptings the Lord got thru to me to write the book. That’s another motivation, to obey Him, because He knows things I don’t. Luke 4:18 says, quoting Jesus, “God’s Spirit is on me, He’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor.” (Message)

The first message is God has provided good food for you: Gen 1:29 “See, I have given you every herb…”

Second, In 1 Cor 6:19, Paul writes “Do you not realize that your body is the sacred shrine of the Spirit of God, echoing within you’ “Mirror Bible. In a mystical, but very real sense, He lives within you. 2 things from here, one He is there to help us, two we have a responsibility to look after His house.

The third message is God has provided grace for you to give you the motivation, the guidance and strength to know what foods are good for you and what foods are bad for you, and what behaviours are

good for you. Jesus said in John 14:20b “I am in my Father; you are in me and I am in you” Mirror Bible.

I am going to write a separate blog on Grace

Anyway, the first ideas came in 2016, I wrote 1.5 chapters. Then in 2017 I had a triple bypass, open heart surgery, at age 70, that changed my life forever. See my first blog. About Sept 2017 I was listening to a tape by Graham Cooke where I really felt God was talking to me that I should do this. It took a while but now I have finished as Treasurer of the New Zealand Sunday School Union and started my life of faith again to trust God to provide while I write this book. I have my National Super and a few private accounting clients, but that’s not enough for Lee & I to live on. I started my Christian life living by faith working as Chief Accountant for over 10 years, now its time to go deeper. Hallelujah!

I am not a doctor, nor a trained nutritionist or dietitian or naturopath. I do have a unique experience from living 72 years and learning from others, including some very good professionals as above. I can tell you that if I knew what I know now at age 25 I would not have ended up overweight with blocked arteries and getting my sternum sawed in half. Hopefully I can save some of you from that, and some of you from getting it repeated. I am sure you will agree that it’s not much fun!

Blessings, Murray
